Youth and Family Ministry is

Youth and Family Ministry is about relationships and service.  Youth should have relationships with authentic and caring adults.  These relationships need to be maintained both inside and outside the walls of the church.  Through these relationships we can raise strong leaders full of talents and gifts that they will be willing to share with the global church.  Likewise, we are all called to a life of service.  This service will take a variety of shapes and we need to be open to the different forms of service as well as the different locations for service from our front yard to the far reaches of the globe.  We received the command to love the children and to teach service from Christ -- and that is something we need to take seriously.  Soli deo Gloria!

Ethos

At King of Glory, all youth, regardless of race, gender, social class, and/or sexual orientation, are welcomed and loved.  We are called by Christ to love our neighbors and we do this to the best of our abilities, realizing that we sin daily and need God's grace repeatedly.  Come as you are, all are welcome!

Service

Service is growing as a bigger and bigger component of what we do here at King of Glory, especially in our Youth and Family program.  We will be looking at ways we can do service as individuals, as friends, and as families.  From raking yards to service trips, we are constantly looking for ways we can selflessly serve our neighbors.

Blog

King of Glory maintains at Youth and Family Ministry Blog that attempts to be updated weekly.  That can be found at http://boisekogblog.blogspot.com.

Trips

We take trips that enhance the ministry at King of Glory.  From synod gatherings to trips to camp, from local trips to do service work to summer service trips across the country, we try to plan things locally and further away that work to enhance the programming happening at King of Glory.

There are 4 Youth Groups at King of Glory

LLAMAS (Senior High) for Grades 9-12

Emus (Junior High) for Grades 6-8

Platypi (Upper Elementary) for Grades 3-5

Wombats (Lower Elementary) for Grades K-2

LLAMAS

The senior high group meets weekly, including TV LYFE (Treasure Valley cluster monthly youth gathering), to participate in social, service, and learning times.  It is open to anyone in senior high, regardless of whether they are a member of King of Glory or not.  We also plan activities for the senior high that happen outside of the LLAMAS meeting time.  LLAMAS meets from 6-7:30pm on Sundays and is held in homes or at the church.  Check the bulletin or contact the church for more details.

PLATYPI

Our 3-5 get a chance to have social time with devotions/bible study once every quarter.  This is an opportunity to build friendships and get to know people who will be with you through out your youth and young adult time at church

EMUS

The junior high group meets once monthly and also has a mix of devotions, service, and social time.  They have participated in scavenger hunts for the food pantry, weeding and planting at church, and other service projects.  The group is open to all 6-8 grade youth (even if you aren't a member!) and meets one Monday a month at a different family's home.  Contact the church for dates and locations!

Wombats

Like the Platypi, the Wombats are a social group with Bible stories that relate to activities they are about to participate in.  They meet once a quarter and get an opportunity to grow friendships in the church.
