Music Ministry

At King of Glory, we have several ways to share your musical talents.  Our music program supports each worship service with voice and sometimes instruments.

 Vocal Choirs

Our choirs are made up of a group of talented people who love to sing praises to God and give of their talents to enhance our worship services. The choir is non-audition, and is open and welcome to new members at all times.  We support the worship year round, but during the summer months, rehearsals are 30 minutes prior to each service and simpler anthems are chosen.  From September until June, our schedule is as follows:

-The choir for the 8:30am Sunday service meets every Wednesday evening from 7:30 – 9:00pm to rehearse hymns and anthems for the following Sundays.

-The choir for the 11:00am Sunday service meets every Sunday at 10am to rehearse hymns and anthems for that day’s service, as well as following Sundays.

These vocal groups combine together a few times a year to sing at both services.

 Bell Choir

-Our Bell Choir rehearses every Monday evening from 7:00-8:30pm. This talented group performs 3 to 4 times a year and occasionally a few ringers are used during services to toll starting notes or play descants.

 Service Music

We use a variety of liturgical settings for our services and change for each liturgical season.  The LBW and the WOV settings are used most often as well as Marty Haugen’s Holden Evening Prayer and Feast & Celebration.

Our hymns and Psalms are a wonderful blend of the traditional and the contemporary, using the before mentioned hymnbooks as well as songs from the Renewing Worship and Worship & Praise Songbooks.  You may hear a beautiful Bach Organ Prelude one Sunday, a praise song with rhythm instruments from around the world the next Sunday and maybe a rousing Gospel hymn on the piano to send you out the door.

Contact

Please contact Laurann Taylor, the Director of Music Ministries, at the Church or by e-mail at lauranntaylor@koglutheran.org if you have any questions or are interested in joining one of these groups.  Any ability is welcome to join – enthusiasm and a willingness to spread the joy of the Lord is the only requirement!  ** We are currently looking for a guitarist to join the Feast & Celebration combo during the Easter season.

ALL ARE WELCOME – Marty Haugen

Verse 4-

“Let us build a house where all are named, their songs and visions heard

and loved and treasured, taught and claimed as words within the Word.

Built of tears and cries and laughter, prayers of faith and songs of grace,

Let this house proclaim from floor to rafter:

All are welcome,

All are welcome,

All are welcome in this place.”
